Am I still required to have a low emission zone label in the windshield of my vehicle to drive in a low emission zone?

No, the low emission zone label is no longer valid. Per 1 July 2020 all driving in the low emission zones in Denmark will be enforced by digital control based on automatick numberplate recognition. Is it possible to enter a low emission zone with an older diesel van/lorry/bus?

Vehicles that do not meet the date requirements for the first registration date or EURO standard can, in accordance with the current regulations, enter low emission zones if a particulate filter has been fitted. Diesel vans with a particulate filter will also avoid the annual particulate filter charge.

Is a low loader affected by the low emission regulations?

If a diesel-powered low loader is registered as a low loader, then it is not affected by the low emission regulations. If a diesel-powered low loader on the other hand is registered as a van, then it is affected by the low emission regulations and must comply to the rules for driving in a low...

New legislation is in place which gives exemption to Euro 5 and EEV heavy vehicles from the requirements that came into force on 1 July 2020. Are there any requirements regarding NOx purification?

No. There are only regulations for the retrofitting of particulate filters.

Why are the requirements being introduced on a step-by-step basis?

The gradual phasing-in is because the affected vehicle owners will have more time to adjust to the new requirements.
